3/26/2023 0 Comments Young souls review![]() The story of twins battling a sort of secret goblin army is charming enough, but the art style is very pretty - cartoon sans borderlines, a lovely palette of purples and pinks and reds - and the locations you visit are quietly evocative. Luckily, alongside your main weapons there are throwable objects which offer a pleasantly painful sense of connection.īattling is a lot of fun, but it's outside of the combat and dungeon-crawling that Young Souls started to work on me. Enemies tend to warp in all around you in numbers, so it's often about crowd control. Watch on YouTube Check out Young Souls in action.Ĭombat includes shields and rolls which need to be timed just so, and then plenty of hacking and slashing. So far - I'm only an hour or so in - levels tend to offer a bit of busywork and plot development and then a trip into a dungeon, followed by a boss. This is a two-player co-op game at heart, but you can play it perfectly well as a single-player, skipping back and forth between the main characters, who are twins, with a jab of the Tag button. (And a profanity filter mode, thankfully, which makes up for the bizarre choice to include swearing in a game that kids will clearly love.) But it's also just a good time in a lovely world. By modern I mean it has XP and leveling and gear and a hub and all that jazz. ![]() This is a nice modern take on the sort of Turtles-style scrolling beat-'em-up. Availability: Out today on PC, Xbox, PlayStation 4 and Switch, already out on StadiaĪs I said, though, it's entirely playable, and I've been playing it, and it's been excellent fun. ![]() ![]() This was once a timed Stadia exclusive, I gather, and while it's entirely playable on Switch, the loading can be quite lengthy and the frame rate can be sort of jittery, which adds an element of imprecision during combat. To get this out of the way first, I've been playing Young Souls on Switch and it's not an enormously brilliant port. ![]()

![]() Tales From The Borderlands Episode 3: Catch a Ride appears to top the previous two episodes and is only marred by the classic Telltale Games stuttering during the QTEs which, sadly, we’ve come to expect now.Borderlands 3 sees the return of several characters from previous games in the series, but what about those from spin-off titles set in the same universe? Is Fiona, one of the main characters from Tales From the Borderlands in the game? Here’s what you need to know. The characters, old and new, were great at conveying varied emotion and I’m desperate to find out the identity of the man in the mask who wants to know the ins and outs of Rhys and Fiona’s story. On the flipside there are some clever QTE action sequences that upped the tempo and there was actually a puzzle of sorts to solve. I laughed, I cried (from laughter mostly) and even found Catch a Ride to have its cute moments. Who knows, there may even be a time where a new destination is needed to be visited, off Pandora, but for now it’s throwing up some great places to see. Just when I thought I’d discovered everything the planet has to offer, this place just blew my mind. I won’t even slightly spoil who it is, but this bundle of joy proves to be the happiest thing ever and makes you smile at its naivety.Īlthough you are still on Pandora, the journey across it takes us to an incredible, manufactured, environment that looks beautiful and colourful. ![]() Surprisingly, out of the newcomers to this series there was only one that stood out and it wasn’t anyone I’d seen before. Maybe even a bit of romance… really cringey romance.įans of the actual Borderlands games by 2K will be pleased to see more familiar faces throughout this episode. There was something more in “Catch a Ride” though the relationships between the team members are beginning to blossom and at times things even felt a little more serious as to the peril that they are in. You are guaranteed a laugh or two during every confrontation or in the midst of a conversation, mainly due to the immaturity and awkwardness of Rhys. ![]() And this wasn’t the only time that I ended up doing a spot of fighting, in fact I’d go as far as saying this is the most action packed episode I’ve seen.Īs for the characters, it’s fair to point out that compared to those found in Telltale’s other games, they are pretty jovial. If there was a way to immediately get the adrenaline pumping, creating excitement for the tale that follows, this was it. ![]() I don’t often say this but when you’re done with the series, go back through to try alternative decisions and conversational topics there are some cool segments that shouldn’t be missed.Īnyway, did I ever mention how good Telltale has been at the episode openers so far? I should have, because once again there was no let up from the minute the story begun, with an action sequence that had a couple of mood lifting moments amongst the slaughtering. Well, depending on your choice it could lead to two support characters either having more of a role in proceedings or in the other case, one was never even introduced. Out of curiosity, and a bit of scepticism, I wanted to see if it really mattered whom I chose. Remember that decision which needed to be made at the end? Whether to trust a con artist or a psychopathic killer to get you and your crew out of a sticky situation, brought about by the discovery of the Gortys Project. Rhys, Fiona and their band of man, woman and robot are back right where we left off in “Atlas Mugged”. ![]() 3/26/2023 0 Comments Sphere grids![]() Such robustness comes at a cost in computational time, but the weights only need be computed once for each grid pair and stored in a file for later use. Throughout the descriptions above, the most general algorithms have been presented that are robust enough to work for any grid on a sphere. ![]() Remapping from a fine grid to a coarse grid consists of averaging over cells on the fine grid the gradient components in (5) will average to zero when averaging over an entire cell. It should also be noted that (5) implies that little increase in accuracy is gained using the second-order remappings to remap from a fine grid to a coarse grid. When gradient limiters are employed, formal second-order accuracy is lost, but the remappings can be made monotone. Avoiding such oscillations requires limiting the gradient, and sample methods for limiting the gradient are discussed in Dukowicz and Kodis (1987). In such cases, (5) may overshoot the expected value of the field, resulting in spurious oscillations in the resulting remapped field. If a field to be remapped has strong gradients, numerical approximations to the gradient may be too steep. Methods for computing gradients can vary depending on the grid and numerical algorithm employed, and the remapping method above requires only that the gradient be at least first-order accurate. The third section will describe practical considerations and problems encountered in spherical coordinates.įor a second-order remapping, a gradient must be supplied. The method was originally introduced by Dukowicz and Kodis (1987) but will be derived for spherical coordinates in the next section. We present here a method for computing remapping weights that will work for any general grid and will provide weights for both first- and second-order accurate remappings. Also, it has been primarily applied to situations where both grids are latitude–longitude rectangular grids. Such a scheme is automatically conservative, but is only first-order accurate. Currently, many coupled models utilize an area-weighted remapping where the interpolation weights are based on the fractional area-overlap of the source and destination grid cells ( Bryan et al. Fluxes in particular must be remapped in a conservative manner in order to maintain the energy and water budgets of the coupled climate system. In a fully coupled climate model, state variables and heat and water fluxes must be transferred between models periodically, and such fields must be remapped from one component grid to another. Similarly, atmosphere models have begun to use icosahedral grids or triangular tesselations for horizontal discretizations ( Schättler and Krenzien 1997 Heikes and Randall 1995). 1995) or that can utilize local mesh refinement ( Levin et al. For example, ocean circulation models have begun to utilize grids that cover the polar regions effectively ( Smith et al. ![]() Component models are often developed as stand-alone models or perhaps as pairs of components (e.g., atmosphere–land or ocean–ice) and utilize grids that work best for that particular component. On the hexagonal grid there is no evidence for damaging effects of computational Rossby modes, despite attempts to force them explicitly. In order to study the earth’s climate system, climate models are often created by coupling individual component models that simulate the atmosphere, land surface, ocean, and sea ice. In the most idealized tests the overall accuracy of the scheme appears to be limited by the accuracy of the Coriolis and other mimetic spatial operators, particularly on the cubed-sphere grid. The scheme is stable for large wave Courant numbers and advective Courant numbers up to about 1. The results confirm a number of desirable properties for which the scheme was designed: exact mass conservation, very good available energy and potential enstrophy conservation, consistent mass, PV and tracer transport, and good preservation of balance including vanishing ∇ × ∇, steady geostrophic modes, and accurate PV advection. ![]() Results of a variety of tests are presented, including convergence of the discrete scalar Laplacian and Coriolis operators, advection, solid body rotation, flow over an isolated mountain, and a barotropically unstable jet. The algorithm is implemented and tested on two families of grids: hexagonal–icosahedral Voronoi grids, and modified equiangular cubed-sphere grids. It combines a mimetic finite volume spatial discretization with a Crank–Nicolson time discretization of fast waves and an accurate and conservative forward-in-time advection scheme for mass and potential vorticity (PV). A new algorithm is presented for the solution of the shallow water equations on quasi-uniform spherical grids. ![]() 3/26/2023 0 Comments Mud river shotgun seat cover![]() If you are looking for a car seat protector with multiple installation options, then this is the one to try. I’ve gone on about this in other articles, but I have a few theories as to where this movie takes place: 1) it’s set in the same version of the Matrix as the first three movies but rebooting the simulation meant tweaks to the city, 2) this is a completely new version of the Matrix created as a successor to the one from the original trilogy, 3) this isn’t the Matrix at all and is instead a separate digital world. ![]() When the Matrix was rebooted at the end of Revolutions, it came back online without the greenish hue, with Sati creating a beautiful, otherworldly sunrise (not unlike the one shining down on the bridge in the first picture) in tribute to Neo.īut there’s also the possibility that this is a completely different simulation all together. There’s actually an explanation for that. You may have also noticed that the signature green tint is gone. This idyllic city by the sea doesn’t really look like the dystopian, sprawling Mega City from the original trilogy. Our first glimpse of Neo’s life after the events of The Matrix Revolutions reveals he’s back in a simulation as Thomas Anderson, but is it the Matrix we know and love? Maybe. These movies have always been multi-setting stories, between the big simulation, smaller programs, and the real world, but this movie’s setting is particularly vital information since it’ll explain what’s going on in some of the weirder parts of the trailer. Another issue with this game is how clunky the button controls are, which I wouldn't take as much issue with if my hand didn't cover up the grid due to how the screen is laid out. The most frustrating thing I experienced was when the game wanted me to give it a word that was shorter than the spaces in the grid would indicate. Gonna have to go with the general consensus here and say that this game is bad, which is a shame because I typically like this kind of game. It requires an input of the first 4 letters as a word, with the 5th letter space not being related and making the total combination gibberish. The developer does not understand the premise of a grid often 5 spaces in a row is not actually for a 5-letter word. There is no customisation of layout and as such, most right-handed people will find their hand over the grid and be unable to see it and enter letter at the same time. The "mix letters" button simply rotates the letters in the same order. ![]() The longest word for each level can be found by just looking at the letters in a clockwise direction.
